- ToV is a slow real-time / turn-based hybrid game, where turns (called ticks) end automatically. A typical game (called a campaign) takes a week or longer.
- ATWAR (Advance Tick When All Ready) mode allows to advance ticks faster, making possible to play the whole campaign in one evening.
- Rule-based diplomacy:
- Defense pacts with defensive wars auto-join
- Alliances with shared scan range
- Inter-bloc diplomacy (joins, expulsions, war declarations, peace proposals) resolved by vote
- Suzerainties with tributes and, well... vassals!
- Campaign event notifications are sent to your mobile device (currently Android only), so you don’t need to check the game constantly or keep it running in the background.
- No cheating – each client receives only the information it’s allowed to see.
- Co-participation info shows which players in your campaign have played (or are playing) other campaigns together – helps detect multi-boxers.
- Local tick control lets you review past ticks and preview future (predicted) ones – useful for analysis and planning.
